Volunteers needed to assist in the Choice Pantry in several ways including sorting/stocking food and clothing and working with clients as they make food and clothing choices. Office Assistance is appreciated as we have ongoing opportunities for volunteers in a variety of tasks. Volunteers are also needed to do food donation pickups each morning before the pantry opens.
We have a choice pantry in both the Newtown and Amelia locations. Children 9 and up may volunteer with their parents to help stock and sort. Children 14 and up may volunteer in the pantry assisting the families that come in for food and clothing. Pantry hours are Monday through Friday from 10:00 to 2:00 and Monday evenings. Volunteers for the choice pantry need to go through a short orientation and training shift before volunteering.
Group opportunities may be available when there is a large donation to sort and organize.
Volunteers in the pantry do any of the following:
- Sort/ Stock- shelve incoming bread, date check cans restock shelves
- Intake (VCM) – check clients in on the computer using the Virtual Case Management Software and enter new clients.
- Shopping- help families make their food and clothing decisions.
- Volunteers who are 12 and up may serve in the food pantry.
Volunteers love helping with our twice monthly mobile pantries held at various locations. Volunteers are needed to help set up the food on tables, shop with families, and enjoy the camaraderie with the families and other volunteers.
Great opportunity for groups, families to volunteer together.
Children 8 and up are welcome to come volunteer with an adult for the mobiles.
